Governor visits Rajouri frontier | KNO

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 22 (KNO) : On a day long visit to the frontier areas Governor N. N. Vohra received a comprehensive briefing from Maj Genl. Suchindra, GOC 25 Div, about the management of the entire stretch of LoC which comes in the Area of Responsibility of this important Army Formation. Governor was also informed about the varied help which the Army provides to the people living in the border belt who undergo considerable suffering when the Pak Army breaches the Cease Fire Agreement and resorts to cross-border firing, which has been happening far too often this year. Governor was also briefed by Shri Shahid Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner, and his senior officers about the varied serious problems faced by the residents of villages along the LoC and the rescue, relief and rehabilitation support being provided by the District Administration. Governor advised Deputy Commissioner to particularly ensure that the academic schedules of the youth going to the schools were interrupted to the least possible extent. The Dy. Commissioner also briefed the Governor about the shelter sheds being constructed for the safety of the local residents, in the villages which were being affected by wanton firing by the Pak side. Governor spent considerable time in an extensive discussion with Dr Arvind Kumar Ishar, Director of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Rajouri, regarding the activities being carried out by this KVK to upgrade the activities in the agriculture and all its allied sectors. Governor asked Dy Commissioner to convene a very early meeting with Chief Agricultural Officer, all the BDOs, Rural Development Department staff, Director KVK and Subject matter Specialists to review the entire Agriculture sector and to lay down clear targets regarding the establishment of Integrated Farming Units, Dairy Farming, Poultry Farming, Fish breeding, Bee Keeping, distribution of quality fruit plants and improved seed varieties, and also ensure that the existing wheat, paddy, maize, potato, fodder and vegetable seeds were replaced within a clear time frame by the best high yielding seeds. Governor observed that enough was not being collectively done by the State Agriculture Department and the KVK to ensure rapid increase in production and productivity per hectare of all crops. He called upon the Dy Commissioner to take urgent charge of this crucial work (KNO)
